Glossary
The terms of pergola manufacturing.
Short definitions of the concepts used in the pergola industry and in our software, from sales to shipping.
- 3D product configurator
- Software that instantly builds, displays and prices a product in three dimensions based on the customer's choices. Details →
- Augmented reality (AR)
- Displaying a digital model in the real environment at true scale through a phone or tablet camera. In XERP 3D, the pergola is viewed in the customer's garden with AR. Details →
- Bill of materials (BOM)
- A multi-level list of the raw materials, semi-finished goods and parts that make up a product, with their quantities and dimensions. For pergolas, it is calculated with formulas based on dimensions. Details →
- Bioclimatic pergola
- A pergola system with rotating aluminum louvers that adjust sun, shade and ventilation, usually motorized and with integrated water drainage.
- Closure
- Roof and side panels that close the gap between two adjacent products; their area is reflected in the quote. Details →
- Crate
- A packing unit into which the packages of one or more projects are placed for shipping. Details →
- Cut list
- A list of which profiles are cut to which lengths and how many; cutting optimization places them on stock lengths. XERP 3D and TCRK XERP generate it automatically. Details →
- Cutting optimization
- Fitting the profile pieces to be cut onto stock lengths with minimum scrap, taking saw kerf and trim allowances into account. Details →
- Gantt planning
- A production planning method in which work orders are shown as bars on a time axis; workstation load and sequencing are managed visually. Details →
- Guillotine glass
- A glass panel system that moves vertically up and down, usually motorized; used to enclose the sides of pergolas.
- HDRI
- A high dynamic range 360° environment image that lights a scene with realistic ambient light and reflections. Details →
- Manufacturing project
- The production file of an order line: BOM, materials, cut list, work orders and packaging information. Details →
- One Chain
- The single data flow that emerges when XERP 3D and TCRK XERP work together: automatic pricing from the drawing, an automatic BOM from the order, all the way to shipment. Details →
- Opening
- The space between a pergola's posts where side products such as glass or zip screens are installed. Details →
- Path tracing
- A rendering method that computes physically accurate lighting by tracing light rays through the scene; the image sharpens progressively. Details →
- Photorealistic render
- An image of photographic realism in which light, shadow, reflections and materials are physically calculated. XERP 3D produces it with path tracing. Details →
- Price catalog
- A table of product prices by size and options; for pergolas usually a width × projection matrix. Details →
- Product questions
- A product's variables such as width, projection, color and motor; the answers determine the price, the BOM and the 3D model. Details →
- Routing
- The sequence of workstations a product passes through in production. In TCRK XERP, the number of workstations and the routing are freely defined. Details →
- Stock card
- A record holding the code, unit, dimensions and price of a raw material, semi-finished product, finished product or service; the building block of a BOM. Details →
- Technical drawing with title block (A3)
- A dimensioned A3 technical drawing with a title block holding your company details. XERP 3D produces it from the scene as PDF and DXF. Details →
- Work order
- The instruction for a production job to be done at a specific workstation; it is started and finished on a tablet screen. Details →
- Zip screen
- A wind-resistant vertical screen system in which the fabric edges are held in side channels by a zipper-like mechanism.
